A 75-YEAR-OLD man was one of two people caught speeding in school zones on Thursday, just three weeks into the school term.

The Elliott Heads man was stopped on Sims Rd, Walkervale, about 8.45am after he was clocked at 58kmh in a 40kmh zone.

About 15 minutes earlier, a 33-year-old Avenell Heights man was caught travelling at the same speed on the same road.

Both were fined $243 and are facing the loss of three demerit points.

today morning police also stopped an 80-year-old man driving on Bourbong St for not wearing a seatbelt.

The offence carries a $365 fine and three points.

Police said the driving offences were a reminder for motorists of the need to follow road rules, especially adhering to the speed limit in school zones.
