$1.8m in budget support for seniors' health and welfare

COTA NSW welcomes the announcement that the NSW State Government will invest $1.8 billion in mental health funding in the 2016/2017 Budget, including a $3.5 million increase in funding allocated directly to Older Persons Mental Health teams.

COTA NSW also welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Ageing John Ajaka that support will continue to be extended to the NSW Elder Abuse Helpline and Resource Unit  and to the Tech Savvy Seniors program.

An additional $500,000 will be allocated to the Seniors Card scheme, which  offers discounts to key living costs for seniors, and $1 million in grants will be available for local community projects to support liveable communities and mobility projects for seniors.
