15 places you can celebrate Oktoberfest on home soil
IT HAS BEEN a soggy start to this year's Oktoberfest in Germany as six million revellers are expected to make their way to Munich for the 17-day annual beer event.
For those that don't know, Oktoberfest is a folk festival that runs from mid-to-late September to the first weekend in October and has been held every year since 1810.
Attendees have travelled from all across the world this year to celebrate at the world's largest beer pilgrimage.
Although, events will be taking place a little closer to home, throughout Australia, with the possibility of much nicer weather.
If you fancy yourself a celebration to the beer gods, then here's a list of the top Oktoberfest events along the east-coast.
1. 7-9th and 14th-16th of October - Brisbane's Oktoberfest

2. 29th of October - Oktoberfest in the Gardens in Sydney
Inspired by the love of the traditional Bavarian festival and great beer, Oktoberfest in the Gardens features two massive big top beer halls, authentic German food stalls, roving performers, sideshow alley, silent disco and an eclectic mix of entertainment and competitions across multiple stages throughout this afternoon and evening.
Taste your way across Europe with a large selection of imported German beer, cider, wine and a range of other beverages.
3. Oktoberfest at The Carrington, Katoomba, NSW
For something a little more low key, visit the stately and historic Carrington Hotel just a few hours outside of Sydney. Wile away the afternoon chilling out to German songs played by local bands, authentic food and plenty of beer to wash it down with.
4.From Friday 7th - Sunday 16th Emu Park Oktoberfest 2016
Celebrate in traditional Bavarian style at the Emu Park Oktoberfest! Starting from humble beginnings in 1984, the Emu Park Lions have grown the event in to a must-not-miss extravaganza.
There will be traditional Bavarian folk dancing, cowbells, yodelling and plenty of sing-along polka hits.
