$10m Aveo expansion to meet aged care demand

CONSTRUCTION of the $10 million final stage of Aveo Freedom Morayfield is nearing completion.

It will see an additional 40 aged care units added across four single-level buildings alongside an upgraded and extended community centre incorporating a new library, recreational lounge, updated dining area and outdoor terrace.

Aveo Group CEO Geoff Grady said the new stage provided homes specifically designed to meet the demand from the region's growing senior population within a safe and social community environment.

"Providing improved infrastructure within our Freedom Aged Care portfolio in order to cater for increased demand is crucial, particularly in the Moreton Bay region as the population and economy continues to grow," Mr Grady said.

"Aveo Freedom Morayfield embraces a non-traditional form of aged care, where residents live in their own self-contained home within a community environment that provides the care services that allow our residents to age in their own homes while being a part of a community for life."

Current resident Annie Allen and her husband moved into the community four years ago when the dementia care needs of Annie's husband increased.

"I moved to this community so I could enjoy the company of others and ensure my husband had the support and care he needed, while also relieving the pressures and loneliness of living in a large house," Mrs Allen said.

"I am looking forward to the refurbishment of the community centre so I can utilise the refreshed outdoor space and recreational areas for social activities and events."

Aveo Morayfield provides onsite 24-hour care for residents, serving their needs within their own home, complemented by lifestyle support and access to qualified health professionals.

With easy access to the Brisbane CBD, the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay, the community still retains the charm and tranquillity of the semi-rural Caboolture area.

New display units are now open to the public, with the official new stage opening ceremony scheduled for August.
