1. Toowoomba's Christmas Wonderland

• WHEN: Saturday, 7pm to 10pm
• WHERE: Queens Park Gardens

THIS traditional Christmas Lights display has begun and will run until Christmas Eve offering the joy and spirit of Christmas to young and old.

The event is hosted by the Lions Club of Toowoomba West.

There will be entertainment each night from local grounds and individuals as well as a barbecue sausage sizzle.

Entry is a gold coin donation.

2. Last minute Christmas shopping

• WHERE: Toowoomba Plaza, Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre and Grand Central Shopping Centre, Toowoomba CBD

IF YOU haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet, don't despair.

The shops are open for most of the day on Saturday.

Grand Central Shopping Centre closes at 6pm, Clifford Gardens at 5pm and Toowoomba Plaza at 6pm.

3. Christmas carols

• WHERE: Toowoomba Wesleyan Methodist Church

LOOKING for something to do on Christmas Eve? The Toowoomba Wesleyan Methodist Church is holding Christmas carols.

A sausage sizzle will be on from 6pm and the carols on at 6.30pm.

4. Go to the movies

• WHERE: Toowoomba Grand Central and Toowoomba Strand

5. Last day to meet Santa

• WHERE: Grand Central Shopping Centre, Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre, Toowoomba Plaza

BEFORE Santa gets ready for the busiest day of the year, he'll be popping into the shopping centres for all of your last minute Christmas wishes.

He's at Clifford Gardens until 4pm, Grand Central until 5pm and at Toowoomba Plaza until 2pm.

6. Church services

• WHERE: Various churches

MAKE sure to attend a church service this weekend.

Check with your place of worship, but there will be Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services throughout the city.

7. Picnic in the park

• WHEN: Saturday and Sunday
• WHERE: Various parks around town

TAKE advantage of the lovely weather and spend some time with your family in one of Toowoomba's beautiful parks.

You could to go Picnic Point, Queens Park, Laurel Bank Park, Lake Annand or Newtown Park.

8. Christmas lights

• WHEN: Saturday and Sunday
• WHERE: Various locations

TAKE the kids for a drive in the evening and check out the fantastically decorated houses in the Garden City and surrounds.

Many homes have been decked out in true festive style with lights and decorations for The Chronicle Christmas Lights Competition.

9. Darling Downs Zoo

• WHEN: Saturday, 9am to 4pm
• WHERE: Corner of Gatton-Clifton Rd and Baines Rd, Pilton 

SPEND Christmas Eve at the Darling Downs Zoo.

It will be a very exciting place, with the newest members of the zoo, the giraffes, ready for their debut on Boxing Day.

10. Christmas Eve race meeting

• WHEN: Saturday, gates at 11am, first race around 1pm
• WHERE: Clifford Park Racecourse
